District Sports Day

Four Explorer Scout Units from Rosyth District entered the Explorer Scout Heptathlon on Saturday 4th May 2013.

The event was held at Pitreavie Athletics Stadium in Dunfermline.

All Explorer Scouts that entered participated in a Heptathlon consisting seven events including High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Putt, 100m, 200m, Sack Race and Egg & Spoon.

The mix of field, track and novelty events ensured we would not know the winner until final event.

In the end, Keiren Waddell won for Woodside Explorer Scouts with 30 points, Adam Shepherd from Aberdour ESU came second with 26 points whilst Craig Wells from Cowdenbeath Young Leaders came third with 21 points.

Well done however to all who took part.

People are quite jealous when you tell them what you do, especially when you explain to them that Scouting has helped you travel around Europe, taken you gorge walking or skiing. I do it because I get a lot out of it and i am a better person for it! I would encourage anybody aged 14-18 to give Explorer Scouts a go as I know that they will not regret it!
